A mate and I are driving from Sheffield up north until I find suitably interesting snow/Ice tomorrow. I'll be there till Friday. But I don't know where I should go. I'm hoping people have been out over the weekend and can recommend where is good and where is not at present.
Experienced winter walker but done no real climbing - just a couple of easy ridge scrambles (e.g. Bristly Ridge).
Want to try and get up some more challenging routes e.g. grade II where ropes may be necessary - I've had an eye on Ledge Route on Ben Nevis - but where do people suggest going?

Try the ledge route. Why not?

given consistent strong westerlies are forecast it makes sense to put some mountains between you and the worse of the weather.

Central buttress on Lochnagar is super classic. If it's easy for you black spout buttress is next on the list. The northern corries has good ii and iii also.

Make sure your head torch has plenty juice sunset is 1530 up here just now
