It occured to me there's all kinds of traditions and customs and folklore to do with Christmas, so I thought I'd start a thread about them for folk to share them, either regional or international.

What have people come across, in their travels or where they've lived?

I think these are fun, and conjour up thoughts of folk tales and people's everyday fears being given a humorous slant.

I'm a bit concerned about Askasleikir, aka Bowl Licker, is in town!

I like Huroaskellir the door slammer, probably nearly everybody has had a door slam in their home due to the wind and briefly thought it sounded like somebody unknown being in the home.
