I know there's probably lots of variables but can anyone give an estimate of the cost of the electricity to run a PC, per hour? A fairly powerful tower, keyboard and monitor. Usually running big games, with half a dozen other windows also open.

Last time I measured my PC (not in your league) it was about 120 W all told, including router. An Xbox, when we last had one that worked, was about 200 W.

Cost per hour is the power in W, divided by 1000, multiplied by your tariff (p per kWh).
So if we had been paying 16 p per kWh when that Xbox worked, it would have been costing us

16 x (200/1000) = 3.2 p per hour.

2 or 3 p per hour, most likely.

For a big tower, modern graphics card and good size monitor then 1kwh of electricity every 2 hours is a reasonable guess. So 10-15p an hour?

A decent spec desktop PC can be using anything from 100W to 1000W in that situation. Based on 330W and 15p for a kWh, that's 5p an hour.

Plug your system in through one of those power meter things and find out what you are actually using.
