Hi,

Does any one know if it is possible to rent back country skis in El Chalten?
I'm looking at spending some time on the Ice cap and want to know if i can rent the skis so i don't have the hassle of carrying them around for my whole trip. I would take my boots and the rest of the equipment with me.

If so further information would be helpful, cost, location.......

Carl

We did in 2008, it was pretty old kit (Silvretta 505 bindings) and the sledges we hired would have embarassed a toddler in the park. I can't quite remember the details, but the guide was called Merlin and I think it was John Biggar (http://www.andes.org.uk/) who put us on to him.

Take some playing cards, we spent a few days digging the tent our of snow drifts and pissing in a spare pan on the ice cap. It made for a memorable honeymoon.

Hi Carl, try contacting Zoe at Walk Patagonia - she's British and runs their company with her husband (a mountain guide) in Chalten. They'll know who in town can sort you out, if it's possible...
