Heading out to Chamonix soon and most of the huts will be closed. Just looking for some info on using the winter rooms such as facilities and do you still pay to stay in them.

blankets and cold rooms by and large. Please make a contribution. u don't have to pay on the hill you can pay something at the caf building in town too. though not sure how often it's open at this time of year.

Normally there is some gas and free food left in the huts. Your best bet is to bring gas and pans and food with you with you. Blankets will be there. Chances are there will be no toilet facilities. Enjoy the much quieter times and remember it will be cold and dark early.

I remember staying at the Hornli hut in December and it was absolutely freezing!
