In my past, before time pressures of guidebook work forced retirement, I was a Uni club gear secretary (for over 15 years) and part of a team that arranged freshers trips. During this time the BMC was always very helpful and greatly increased the usefulness of its public advice such as that found here:

It is depressing to see only 2 clubs on the BMC page so far, so I strongly urge student clubs to ignore any negative posters here and include their freshers trip posts on (UKC and) the BMC site. It is really useful to stop the accidental clash of multiple clubs unknowingly choosing the same good venue and is a courtesy to those who wish to avoid especially busy crags.
