The Reel Rock Tour is returning to the UK in October 2014 for its third nationwide tour with the latest instalment of the Reel Rock climbing film series.

This year’s Tour includes the feature-length documentary VALLEY UPRISING. Seven years in the making by BigUP and Sender Films, it tells the incredible story of climbing in Yosemite National Park including the epic climbing rivalries, the ground-breaking first ascents and the battles with the park authorities.

For a taste of Valley Uprising check out the trailer here youtube.com/watch?v=o86TpaSBcWw&

VALLEY UPRISING is divided in to 3 parts (matching the 3 key generations in Yosemite's climbing history):

THE GOLDEN AGE (Part 1)
It was in the early days, during the 50s and 60s, that (now) legendary climbers dreamt up the incomprehensible notion of ascending Yosemite’s massive, cloud-scraping vertical walls. Set against the backdrop of the conformism of post-war America, these climbers forged a revolution in climbing and a way of life. They completed many incredible, classic first ascents climbs, etching their name into Yosemite's pantheon.

THE STONEMASTERS (Part 2)
Inspired by their predecessors but determined to usurp their legacy, the 70’s climbers were audacious in personality and vision. They applied their talent to free-climbing, which made for some massively impressive new ascents. During this time a raucous new era emerged, marked by partying and battles with park authorities. And then there was the time a drug-smuggling plane crashed in the valley, creating a contraband gold rush for the usually impoverished local climbers....

THE STONE MONKEYS (Part 3)
With the dawn of a new century, came the emergence of the "Stone Monkeys", a young and modern band of brothers who have taken up the mantle of Yosemite's climbing tribe and achieved feats of adventure once thought impossible.

Exactly 50 years after the 5-day ground-breaking first ascent of Half Dome, Alex Honnold completed the incredible free-solo Half Dome climb in under three hours, arguably one of the greatest rock climbing ascents in the history of the sport. The Yosemite climbing scene has now become a truly astonishing thing to behold with high lines across cliff-tops, and B.A.S.E.-jumping off the massive formations. The Stone Monkeys features Dean Potter, Renan Ozturk, Alex Honnold, Tommy Caldwell, Chongo Chuck and many more…

In reply to Big Steve:

It would be great to come to Milton Keynes. We were actually working to put on a screening with someone locally there but it fell through. It's good to know that there is demand there and we'll keep on trying.

Hmm not sure the Bristol venue shown was right.....? It was in the chemistry building off Woodland road.
