I've got a pair leashless modded Aztars with rests, and am plenty happy with them for climbing, a mate has mentioned a days walking in Wales come snow time for his birthday.

Are they too short for walking support? Is this an excuse for another axe? I'm fairly short as it is 5'7 and used them walking in/out from climbs but then that's only a short part of the day compared to a days dedicated walking/stomping.

More than long enough. I'm close to 6ft and use a 56cm axe.

Can you remove the rests? They're a bit annoying at times when plunging.

Nope, because the lowers were never designed for them so epoxy was added. They're never going anywhere!
