Firstly, if anyone is driving to Edinburgh on Wednesday from nearish to Sheffield with a space, let me know and I can help with petrol costs!!

I'm thinking of hitching it as trains are expensive...

Would I be better going snake pass and M6 way? Or up the M1 and then A roads after Newcastle? Is either route more popular with drivers? Or have more service stations etc?.

Bus or M1 / A1.

Buses are surprisingly cheap.

East coast route is simpler and so probably better for hitching.

Prices seem quite high - megabus (£37), national express (£51), and the train is (£35).

I'll keep checking though. Thanks for the route advice too, I might give it a go and see how I get on (unless I can find a lift off anyone). My flight out is Thursday morning so if the worst comes to it I'll just jump on a train.
