I've seen some conflicting opinions and obviously it's still a little early to tell, but do we, the UKC Massif, reckon it's still going to be roasting in the Lake District (specifically round Coniston) this weekend? Just planning some activity with my dog whilst my husband's Lakeland 50ing and don't think heading uphill in 30 degree heat would be the smartest move for the hound.

The Coppermines valley might be worth a look, if you don't think the hound will like steep hills and 30 degree heat.

If you go towards the valley head below the huts and the youth hostel the river on the right is nice to play in, it's not deep there and would be enjoyable for a dog to paddle in (and a human too). ()

I thought you probably would. It's a place I have a soft spot for, having stayed in one the huts since I was 12.

Scary to think that's 22 years ago.
