I had the pleasure of using one of these tools yesterday in the High Peak. They're absolutely fantastic and I'm pleased to say that I now have the most snow-free driveway in the area.

how good are they as a sledge when you can't be arsed walking down hill any more?

I doubt it, the edges of the shovel look pretty uncomfortable, I tried sledging on a bd deploy 3 and that didn't feel nice. It did hurt less than my attempts to use one as a snowboard though.

Those Deploys are clearly poorly designed for misuse. Manufacturers take note ;O)
