Pretty impressive average of 31.6mph - time 1.34.43 taking 40 seconds off the old record.
And then you consider that he could only finish 6th in the National TT championship a couple of days earlier - losing over 4 minutes to Wiggo - albeit over a lumpy 50km course.
It makes you wonder what the likes of Wiggo and co could do to the comp record if they put their minds to it. ( Perhaps when Wiggo retires from the Pro scene we might find out)
Also worthy of note is the ride by 17 year old Ben Mckintosh of Crewe who finished 11th in a time of 1.43.23 -- If he's not on the British Cycling development program, he deserves to be!
