I've seen lots of other people get really helpful advice on UKC, so here it goes...

Basically for a while I've been thinking about my career and looking at outdoor industry jobs on here. While doing this there's a couple that really appeal to me:

Currently I work in outdoor retail and I am very interested in how the products are made and appreciate the time and effort they take to design and manufacture. I also have a degree in a unrelated area if that is relevant.

Basically my question is... How do you go about getting involved in this area? Is it a case of a fashion degree/course and then specializing, which I am reluctant to do tbh, although if it's the only way i would consider it Or is there another way of working my way up?

I hope there's someone who works in the area and can explain how they got into this area of work!?

Thanks
Ali

I can't answer your question but I do know someone who can. Contact those two companies and ask them what sort of background qualification/training etc., they'd expect from a suitable candidate. And thats your answer!!
