Mrs Peebles Boy is looking for a new shell jacket. Any recommendations?

Looking for something as follows:

- Not a lightweight summer one
- Not insulated (but mesh lined would be fine)
- With pit zips
- A slightly longer cut than just waistlength
- Goretex is the preferred fabric of choice, but willing to look at others
- Any items with sale prices attached especially welcome!

Cheers,
Gordon

It'd be worth having a look on Sportspursuit.com - you need to register, but they're not too annoying. There's a warehouse clearance on, so very good discounts if you can find something that suits in the right size.

Yep, had a look through this morning, some great deals to be had! Any experience of any of the brands/models? Most of them seem quite short in length as well....

I got my wife a Haglofs jacket from Cotswold last season. Can't remember the exact model but a lot of jackets from their brand fit your requirements and they usually come in good colours as well. My wife has used hers for walking, winter climbing, shopping (!) and been very happy with it. It has a good fit for her and a very good hood. I did just check and it doesn't appear in this years catalogue but I reckon the Rando jacket is similar.

My wife just bought a rab Vidda and she is very happy with it.

Longer cut than usual. Good old fashioned storm flap rather than "waterproof" zips!

No pit zips though.
