Hi there,

I've recently joined this site in an effort to discuss hill walking with like minded people. If anybody fancies a walk sometime then even better. I'm currently logging days for my summer mountain leader award. I've registered for a winter skills course in Fort William over the half-term period this February 2014. The 2 day course will go through the usual winter skills issues. Once completed I'm hoping to get out into the hills for two separate days. I've walked the Ben on numerous occasions and am looking to expand my horizons now so if anybody can recommend two great days which don't involve using a car I would be very grateful. I will be based in Fort William and am keen to get out and hopefully get the crampons and ice axe out. Best wishes,

Simon Bereit

A few suggestions:

Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/stobban.shtml
You could get a taxi to the start, and then return to FW by descending NW from Mullach nan Coirean to pick up the West Highland Way.

Beinn a'Chaorainn & Beinn Teallach http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/beinnachaorainn.shtml Train to Tulloch gets you to within a couple of km of the normal start point.

Sgurr Thuilm and Sgurr nan Coireachan http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/sgurrthuilm.shtml Train/bus to Glenfinnan

Beinn a'Bheithir http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/beinnabheithir.shtml Bus to Ballachulish

Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/binneinmor.shtml Bus to Kinlochleven

Timetable for last two here: http://www.stagecoachbus.com/PdfUploads/Timetable_38487_44%20Lochaber%20.pd...
