Hey all. Going to the lbs this weekend to buy two new hard tails and some Kleo pedals for the road bike -

£1000 trek 8.5 ( though 850 online with Evans cycles)
£500 or there abouts on whatever hard tail the gf likes
£45 pedals

What sort of discount should/could I sensibly ask for if paying cash? I know we are some way from end of season sales but surely I could get some discount? Advice appreciated, thanks.

Ps I cannot wait around for end of season sales due to holidays booked so need the bikes

You may not get the % discount you want so come at it from a dif angle. Ask them to chuck some stuff in for free ( pedals for instance). 45 quid to you is prob 25 to them.

So try discount 1st and then extras if your not happy.

Agree with Darren09 , you maybe better off using the freebies angle also the retailer usually has a bit more margin to play with onex demo & second hand/part exchange bikes .

As I understand it the big suppliers don't like the sellers discounting current models .

Good on you for supporting your local bike shop too .

if you're a big lad, this looks like a sweet deal:

You might still find some 2012 models around - worth asking/looking.

Ask the LBS the best way to pay, as they may get a kick back from a finance deal that you could then pay off immediately (check small print to make sure there's no penalty)
