I am after a do it all lens and I have been reliably informed that this is it! Anybody know of any good deal or have any other advice on lenses? I currently only have the 18-55mm lens that came with my d3200. I will be using the camera for family stuff, climbing, landscapes and basically anything else I see that I think warrant a snap! Advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I have this lens on my D200. Seems fantastic to me, I like being able to get in close for people shots and stuff, without actually being close.

It is heavy, mind.

More generally I'm thinking about investing in a Lumix G3 or similar, so much smaller for climbing and travel, pretty much all DSLR function and now around £300 with lens...

In reply to weakdave: Sigma do an 18-250mm OS lens, slightly bigger reach in a much smaller unit. Could be worth a consideration?

Optically the 18-200mm is fantastic. Got a mate doing pro cycling photography using one and he loves it. £580-£600 for the lens though.
