 Topic - Summer Skiing on mountains

So I'm in a bit of a silly question mood tonight.
Skiing is recognised as a very good way to get to climbs in winter in the French Alps (Mont Blanc etc).
Having never touring skied, only touristy skiing, why is it less encouraged in the summer?
Or am I misreading things? |
