A good all round article with lots of advice for those wanting to take up fell running. So it's a shame it's nearly all about fell racing. Even when it mentions fell running, it's set in the context of being just training for yet more fell racing. When advising beginners, it's maybe a good idea to emphasise fell running for fun, and that you don't HAVE to race and you don't HAVE to join a club.

In reply to pscdnlh: Ok, we emphasised the clubs to try to break down this idea its for the elite. It seems one of the main barriers in fell running seems to be how to find out about races and the whole club issue, hence why the focus was on that.

But you are right fell running is more than fell racing..

What else would you have wanted to see in the article by the way? techniques? routes? Specific Equipment?

Aren't you now involved in the SHR site? I wasn't sure if they'd end up as one.

You're doing London yeah? good luck. I'm meant to be doing Boston but currently looks like I have some kind of forefoot injury, possible stress fracture, so I'm spending the week swimming and aquarunning and will hope for luck on the day.. its been progressively more and more painful to run.

Hi Iain, Good luck with that foot on Monday at Boston. Yes, I'm down for London Marathon on the 22nd.
I do have some involvement with SHR compiling the calendar, but mainly spend time on the SHRacing site now. I agree it would make some sense to have them joined up.
