Perfect late September conditions in Tré les Eaux, Vallorcine. Petit Four 6c. © jon
There are two crags in Tré-les-Eaux a few hundred metres apart. The pin on the map relates to Tré-les-Eaux Inferieur. To get to the higher one follow the via ferrata and continue up the path. Another path (an alternative route) comes in from the right. At this junction bear left and continue into the upper valley of Tré-les-Eaux and after a couple of hundred metres the upper crag appears just above the path, on the right. About 10 minutes or so from the lower crag.
The lower crag is in Les Aiguilles Rouges Vol 2. The upper one doesn't yet feature. It was planned to be in the definitive version of Vol 2 but this is unsure at the moment.
The lower crag requires an 80m rope or 2x50m. Often an 80m is right on the limit and on one route (The Long Run), when lowering off its second pitch you have to descend to a slightly higher belay on its neighbouring route to the left. 15 or so quickdraws should get you up all routes. The belays are all SS units equipped with rings so think about a screwgate and/or extra quickdraws.
The upper crag is 25m max. A dozen quickdraws will be sufficient. The belays are SS units with captive krabs.
