This abandoned quarry in the valley behind the Castleton Cement Works has a small selection of routes in a shady setting though little of any real quality. It is worth a visit if you want somewhere quiet on a hot day and are looking for routes in the 5c - 6b range.
From the centre of Castleton, go into the market place area behind the main street and take the road going leftwards from the triangle. Follow this road, keeping right at the fork, as it goes steeply uphill. Turn left down a gravelly side-road on the left by some trees. Park down here at a wide area on a bend. Descend the track, the Upper Tier is on the right after 5 minutes and the Main Quarry is a couple of minutes further also on the right.
Like most quarries, there is no formal right of access and the climbs are only included here for completeness.
