Coasteering Elie Chain Walk, middle chain section © ClanAdventures
Some escape climbs above the Elie Chain Walk. Rock is conglomerate, extremely poor - loose and disintegrates easily with little-to-no protection. Adventurous (and unsafe) climbing.
The Only section worth looking at climbing: Approaching from the east (from earlsferry) coming along the first section of the chain walk, a bay opens up and a prominent Basalt cliff comes into view. This is the only section that looks like this along the chain walk.
Descent is possible from a bench after the radio masts. Down a steep but well trodden grassy path.
With some cleaning it would be possible to put in a couple of other new routes. But it's a long way to go for a couple of loose climbs.
Elie or Earlsferry, as for the Fife Coastal path or the Elie Chain Walk.
