Port work climb to enjoy the winter sun © mzchambers
Big imposing and sometimes gloomy crag has some of the most contiually steep climbing in the Glen. The crag can be seen eaily from the end of the road and has some great rock but the lesser climbed routes can be lichenous.
There are a few options to ponder.
- If the river Nevis is suitably low the quickest approach is to go from the Steal car park go directly to the river crossing at a weir or by boulder hooping (NN 1690 6904) and going straight up to the cliff. (30mins)
- If the river is high park as for Whale Rock but contiue along the path next to the river untill the crag comes into sight.
- A nice alternative is to go via Steall Meadow and cross the river at the head of the gorge or at the wire bridge. Contiue cutting back up and across the hill to the crag.
