Even though the pack is light it still carries heavy loads super well. When you first try it on the shoulder straps may seem a little "light" but don't let this put you off, the balance of the pack is amazing. The load always seems well spread and this means that when climbing your movements feel unrestricted.
I've used this pack on Alpine and Scottish day hits to multi day north walls…Its lead, seconded and been hauled over rough granite slabs, pushed and pulled through razor sharp cracks yet still the durability of the Mutant always surprises. I know when I am climbing I need to depend on my pack and know it's up to the job. There are too many other uncertainties to account for and with the Mutant on my back it frees my mind up to work out everything else.
My favourite aspect about the pack is it's different configuration options. The Mutant has a FlapJacket™ lid cover, which means I can cut the weight right back by removing the floating lid if needed. The hipbelt is super comfy and folds away when I don't want it and both ice axe attachments are really well placed and easy to get to.
Also the Mutant has a perfect shape for loading and climbing with.
