Evening all,
hope you’re all good. Hammering down here on the south coast.
My daughter was playing Carte Blanche by Veracocha. I told her it was ancient and after some googling she believed me.
So after a nostalgic rabbit hole trip with her, I thought I’d try and remember more of the typical Ibiza type songs from the 90’s as I can’t remember some of my favourites.
So what have you got UKC?
Offshore Cafe Del Mar
Everything on this (admittedly there are a few remixes that were done more recently but the originals are pretty much all 2000 or earlier)
These are my favourites:
‘Cafe Del Mar’ by Energy 52
‘For an Angel’ by Paul Van Dyk
‘Cream’ by Blank & Jones
Children - Robert Miles
Encore Une Fois - Sash!
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400

On reflection, I would add the following to my list:
’1999’ by Binary Finary
’Airwave’ by Rank 1
808 state - Pacific State
Josh Wink - Higher state of consciousness
And, obviously, Insomnia
My favourite of the era will always be Stretch & Vern - I'm Alive
Recently rediscovered Spente Le Stelle by Yomanda. Absolute classic, can only find it on YouTube though.
Perfect Motion by Sunscream
Mystery Land by Y-traxx
Mercury and Solace - BT
One Nation (unity mix) - Supperreal
Walk with me (mix 1) - Heliotropic
If you want 2hrs of bliss - Pete Tongs Essential mix (goa mix)
Darude Sandstorm
Age of Love (eponymous track)
Astral Projection Mahadevah
Space Brothers Forgiven
Marmion Schoenberg
Some classics there definitely worth revisiting!
My daughter is “surprised at how good really old music is”!

Doesn't matter when you were born; everyone eventually learns the stuff they grew up with wasn't the best, comes to peace with it and listens to physical graffiti followed by dark side of the moon.
Here's a few of my faves starting with this absolute stormer:
Blue Adonis - Disco Cop
Cevin Fisher - The Freaks Come Out (Sharp Freaks at Trade mix)
The Bucketheads - The Bomb
Sil - Windows 98
London Fiesta– Keep That Feeling High
David-Morales and The-Bad-Yard-Club - In De Ghetto
Agnelli & Nelson - El Niño
E
Lots of classics already listed but
ATB - 9PM (Til I Come)
Fragma - Toca's Miracle
Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
I dunno, I mean this was the sort of stuff that I remember moaning about all week while I was listening to serious techno or drum and bass with my mates but you'd still go out and put your hands in the air to it on Friday night because you were 17 and you lived in Canterbury and there was only one nightclub and this was what they played. I think Insomnia and Children probably hold up about the best of the straight-up anthem trance tunes for me, some of the rest still feels a bit on the cheesy side.

I'm not not sure what constitutes an Ibiza classic, I've never been there. But I know there's the difference between sunset/sunrise choons.
And I know that Sandstorm is absolutely the best ever tune to go mental and lose your shit to!

Quite like Storm as well

One of my best finds on youtube after playing my cd to death I'd thought I'd never hear it again - Sound of the Hoover!

Is that Jerry Moffat at 1:14?
When I first moved to Sheffield, the Venn diagram of 'People who climb hard' and 'Gurning down the front at The Arches' was pretty much a perfect circle.
Take a listen to Centerforce Radio on DAB. They play a ton of classic House and Techno, as well as some new stuff in line with the classics. I always put it on for the drive to the wall; Upon arrival, if there's a nice tune on (and I just got warm in the car), I'm reluctant to turn it off until a nice drop! :P
Absolutely - that coming through a quality system takes you straight back.
